The crushed stone in the sleeper box on the railway subgrade is called ballast stone. The main functions of ballast stone are as follows:
1. Bear the pressure transmitted by the sleeper and distribute the pressure evenly on the subgrade.
2. Fix the sleeper position and maintain the correct line shape and slope of the track.
3. Drain the rainwater around and below the sleeper to prevent the soil of subgrade from deformation due to wet and soft.
4. Increase the elastic force of the track to make the rail quickly return to the original correct position after being rolled by the train.
With the operation of the railway and the passage of time, a lot of dust, soil and weeds will be produced in the joint of railway ballast stone. If the cleaning is not carried out regularly, the ballast stone will be affected to play its role. The traditional cleaning method is manual screening, and shovels or nine rakes are used to shovel the ballast stone onto the drying line, and the vibration is cleaned by manual operation. The cleaned ballast stone is then returned to the cleaned sleeper box. The ballast stone will be poured back into the sleeper box every time the screen is cleaned, which results in labor waste and low work efficiency.
